What is an Enrolled Agent?
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a federally authorized tax practitioner licensed directly by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. EA status is earned by passing the three-part Special Enrollment Examination administered by the IRS, or through qualifying service history, and is maintained through ongoing continuing education and ethics training.
EAs are governed by Circular 230 (31 C.F.R. Part 10), the Treasury regulation setting the standards of professional conduct for all practitioners admitted to practice before the IRS.

- Unlimited representation before the IRS — audits, collections, and appeals in all 50 states
- Tax preparation for individuals (Form 1040), businesses (1120, 1120-S, 1065), trusts (1041), and nonprofits (990)
- International tax: FBAR, FATCA, expat returns, streamlined filings, and ITIN applications
- Federal and Massachusetts compliance — including MA DOR examinations and collections
